Founded in
January of 1986 by Norman C. Breneman III - NCB Commodities was listed as one of
the top ten fastest growing companies in 1995 by the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal. NCB Commodities was
incorporated in June of 1988. Conceived by
Norman after eighteen years in the recycling industry, NCB Commodities has grown
from humble beginnings.
From a
basement office to a 32,500 sq. ft. plant that is now home of the corporation. The first
plant operation of 5,000 sq. ft. was added in September of 1993 and was quickly
outgrown. By March of 1995 NCB had moved its operations to a 7,500 sq.ft. plant
in Emigsville, PA. A second
plant opening in York city that same year added an additional 10,000 sq. ft. At that time,
NCB operated two Downstroke Balers and one small Horizontal Baler. Materials
processed included Old Corrugated Containers, Newspaper, Mixed Paper, Sorted
Office Paper, White Ledger, Colored Ledger, Coated Book, Computer Print Out, and
Hard White. By September
of 1996 NCB had outgrown the 17,500 sq. ft. of space split between two buildings
and decided to move once again to its current location, a 32,500 sq.ft. building
in eastern York County.
Operations
now include one large Horizontal Baler and one Downstroke Baler. Materials
still include the ones previously mentioned with the addition of Stretch Film,
Coated Ground wood, Heavy & Lightly Printed Sulphites.
